Supporting Kids in Our Community
Troy Iturralde, an honorable son, typical older brother, incredibly loyal friend, and a dedicated academic who threw a mean slider, was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, and unfortuately lost his life in 2022. Troy was a Western Little League Alumni and Tucson High Badger.
DCOP had the privledge of meeting with the Family's advocates (Ayola & Vanessa) in May of 2021 to help support the family during their son's medical treaments. He will live in our hearts forever.

Story by Nunez, El Tour de Tucson...
How about them Cowboys!? DCOP ready to ride in El Tour to help Tucsonans August 27, 2021. It’s starting to become football season, but more importantly, it’s always cycling season. That only makes it the best time of year for Joey Sanchez and the Dallas Cowboys Fans Old Pueblo – Tucson organization.
They are looking forward to their favorite Cowboys getting on the gridiron here in a couple of weeks. They’re also giddy about preparing for the 38th El Tour de Tucson. There will be four or five cyclists raising money for their non-profit that helps Tucsonans in need. The cyclists will be riding in the 10-mile Fun Ride.
“I’m not one of those high-end riders,” Sanchez said, with a serious but funny tone to it. “Just want to let you know. I just cycle to get out and try to stay in shape.”
No worries. This event – El Tour – has long prided itself on being a fundraising tool to help nonprofits raise money and awareness for their causes. In fact, here’s DCOP’s motto: DCOP strives to help local families and individuals in need through different fundraising events year-round. We also support local schools in need of supplies for PreK-8 and other non-profit organizations.
By giving, we make a positive impact on that individual’s life, we become a blessing to others and in return, we are truly blessed.
“We’re not just about the Cowboy club but we help people,” said Sanchez, who is a DJ by trade. “We want to help the people.”
What’s clear is you don’t have to be a Cowboys fan to join the cycling team or a Cowboys fan to get help if you need assistance.
“Participating is the issue here,” he said. “We want people to join in. Yes, I love the Cowboys. More importantly, we want to see people succeed. Doesn’t matter if they are Broncos or Steelers. We want to help.” Of course, they still love their Cowboys.
“I’m hoping we win the Super Bowl,” he said, laughing. “Like every other year I hope. But there are a lot of kinks to work out.”
